In food and beverage analysis, the highly complex nature of matrices often requires the need for sample preparation steps prior to analysis for the analytes of interest. Sample preparation is considered the most error-prone and labor intensive step of the analytical process. Automation of the sample preparation step can increase laboratory efficiency, improve precision and accuracy and reduce the potential for errors.

Gilson offers a variety of automated solutions for the food and beverage laboratory. These include liquid handling, solid phase extraction (SPE), gel permeation chromatography (GPC) clean-up and preparative HPLC clean-up.
