Face à la nécessité de déterminer une multitude de contaminants de l'environnement à partir de matrices complexes, les laboratoires environnementaux sont souvent à la recherche de moyens de rendre plus efficace la préparation des échantillons avant la détermination des composés d'intérêt. L'automatisation contribue à diùinuer les coûts du laboratoire en réduisant les sources d'erreurs et les temps de traitement de l'échantillon.
