Gilson Employees Are Committed to Supporting Health-Related Causes

Gilson is committed to supporting employee wellness and global health initiatives. In September, our employees joined the 2024 Step Challenge, an initiative to raise funds for an employee-selected cause: childhood cancer research.

2024 Gilson Global Step Challenge

The 2024 Gilson Step Challenge event raised money for The Gustave Roussy Institute located in France, which is a leading cancer center in Europe, ranked #4 in the world's best oncology hospital according to Newsweek magazine, and the first one ranked outside the United States. The institute treats patients with all types of cancer at any age and is an expert in the treatment of rare and complex tumors.

Out of four possible options employees could choose from, “Gold in September Childhood Cancer Awareness Month” received overwhelming support for the third consecutive year. Employees enthusiastically participated in the walking challenge to support cancer research for children. The goal was to take as many steps as possible and complete the challenge as a team to move up the leader board.

The 2024 Step Challenge was a great success for the Gold in September cause, while encouraging more physical activity for our employees.

Step Challenge Winners Supporting the Cause of Their Choice

75% of our final donation was given to The Gustave Roussy Institute, but the winning team could choose the association of their choice to donate the remaining 25%.

In parallel with the global Step Challenge organized at Gilson, two members of the winning team took part in an event organized by NAMI Dane County. NAMI stands for National Alliance on Mental Illness, and its mission is to provide education, support, and advocacy for people affected by mental illness.

The NAMI organized walk was mainly to gather supporters, raise awareness, and raise money to help fund mental illness services. On the day of the walk, there were enough people to walk through Madison, Wisconsin, USA, and stretch out for miles on the lakeside!

Carolyn Vogt, Account Manager, and Jordan Ho, Applications Specialist, walked one of the two routes to raise awareness about mental illness and mental health. People wore shirts to spread awareness and conversed with other participants throughout the walk. Carolyn signed up as an individual and Jordan was on a team that he organized.
